Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 9, 2026
Your privacy matters. This policy explains what information Blink collects when you use the service, how we use it, who we share it with, and what controls you have. If anything here is unclear, contact us and we will do our best to answer.
What we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we store your email address, an encrypted password (or a provider identifier if you sign in with Google), and a display name of your choice. We do not collect a real name, phone number, or physical address.
Profile information. You may optionally add interests (like "music", "coding", or "travel") to improve the quality of your matches. Interests are stored on our backend and visible to the person you are matched with during a call.
Connection data. To pair you with another user, our servers briefly handle signaling messages (SDP and ICE candidates). These messages are not the contents of your conversation and are discarded after the call is established.
Usage data. We collect basic service logs (timestamps, error events, IP address at the network layer) to keep the service running, detect abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
What we do NOT collect
We do not record your video or audio calls. Streams are peer-to-peer between you and your match. We do not have access to the media, we do not transcribe it, and we do not store it.
How we use your data
- To authenticate you and secure your account.
- To match you with another user and establish the WebRTC connection.
- To respond to reports and enforce our community guidelines.
- To keep the service reliable and diagnose technical problems.
Advertising
Blink displays advertising on public content pages (the home page, terms, privacy, and guidelines). We use Google AdSense to serve these ads. Google may use cookies to personalize ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Ads are never shown inside the video chat room, on the sign-in screen, or on any authenticated screen.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum data required with service providers who host our infrastructure (database, authentication, content delivery). Providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only to operate Blink on our behalf.
Your rights
You can update your display name and interests at any time from your profile. You can delete your account, which removes your profile and interests. If you are in a jurisdiction with additional data-protection rights (such as the EEA, UK, or California), contact us to exercise them.
Data retention
Account and profile data is kept while your account is active. Signaling data is transient. Service logs are retained for a limited period to support abuse investigations and legal compliance, then removed on a rolling schedule.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of Blink after changes means you accept the updated policy.
